Explore the untamed and the wild and you will know the pleasure of excitement and the thrill. The wildlife tour packages are some of the ideal options to quench this particular hunger of a passionate tourist who specifically has a penchant for the Nature.
The walloping number of 441 sanctuaries, 80 national parks and 23 tiger reserves created by the Indian Government in a noble attempt to protect wildlife on the whole is genuinely worthy of praise. You have got to feel the adventure by experiencing a day or two within the deep forests of India as part of the wildlife tour packages. The striped beast swerving through the wetlands, the swishing deer or the sprightly colored wild winged beings are absolute delights to watch. However what you have to include in the wildlife tour packages are jeep safaris, wildlife safari tours, elephant safaris, hotel booking and reservations at wildlife resorts.

The prime wildlife reserves in India that deserve to be explored more than once are as follows:

* Ranthambore National Park
* Kanha National Park
* Bandhavgarh National Park
* Kaziranga National Park
* Corbett National Park
* Keoladeo National Park

Spread throughout the country from north to south, every one of the wildlife reserves is individually special - homes to thousands of birds and animals. Ranthambore National Park, situated amid the Vindhyas and the Aravallis, is arguably the most famous of all and it is shelter to more than thousand species of flora and fauna apart from the ravishing big cat, of course. Among the wildlife sanctuaries in India, however, the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary exhibits a montage of pied birds, of various species and breeds - many of them having migrated from the remote lands of Siberia.

Accommodation in the reserves gets smoother with the following:

* Birders Inn Jungle Lodge, Bharatpur
* The Gir Lodge, Gir
* Corbett Roop Resort, Corbett
* Wild Haven Resort, Bandhavgarh
* Tiger Safari Resort, Ranthambore
* Jungle Inn Resort, Nagarhole

Each one of the above is a unique example of wildlife preservation. Wildlife in India is vast and varied; the various colors of Nature can be discovered and adored during any of the India wildlife tours by visiting any of the mentioned reserves. These resorts are blissful experiences with plenty of opportunities to meet the grand predator and other animals and birds as well. The cottages to be lodged in are luxurious to the core, maintaining the natural ambience to the fullest.

A word of caution goes out to my fellow beings who are as enthusiastic as me - go for light cotton clothing for the hot summers and suitable woolens for the chilly winters. First aid and bare essentials are advised to be carried along rather than hanker for them in the midst of the so called remoteness. Make your wildlife tour packages worthwhile by planning them out accordingly. Log on to www.wildlifeindiatours.com to help you out in a better way.

Tips for Traveling To Brazil

If you have ever dreamed of traveling to Brazil, you are not alone. Brazil is a particularly busy tourist location, but nonetheless gorgeous. This great country has a quite diverse culture and amazing climate, making it a wonderful place to visit. Brazil lies in the heart of South America which means the summer starts in December and lasts until the end of February - but overall, the climate is great year round. Before heading off for your vacation in the southern hemisphere, there are some considerations you need to bear in mind.

First, the weather is extremely humid in Brazil, so the type of clothing you bring on the trip is an important comfort factor. You also need to make sure you have relief medication if you are sensitive to heat or humidity. Plastic bags are an excellent way to carry light items that will be exposed to the humidity for long periods of time.
Bring along sun block because the sun is intense there. Don't allow your vacation to be disrupted or ruined by a severe sunburn. Bringing insect repellent is also a great idea because mosquitoes can be dense in that area of the world.

As best you can, pack light since you will have to go through customs upon flight arrival. With new airline policies, it is important to know what you can and cannot bring through customs. Then be diligent to declare anything of concern that you have brought into the country so you won't have it taken away before or after you land in the airport.

On a similar note, keep copies of all your important documents to minimize the possibility of any snags getting into or out of Brazil. This includes your passport as well. Ensure it is up-to-date for your trip; if not, leave yourself plenty of time prior to your trip to get that taken care of. The average wait time can be around three months, so planning well ahead of time will save you from serious stress.

It may also help if you bring along your documents of recent vaccines. Hepatitis A, B, and C are prevalent in Brazil, so it will be to your benefit to review your inoculations to determine if you have been injected with all your Hepatitis shots before departure.

While packing for comfort, a pair of sandals and sneakers are recommended. You will be walking a lot, so be sure you have everything you need to minimize foot and leg fatigue.

Finally, the main language in Brazil is Portuguese. Learning a few basic sentences for communication will help when you need assistance there.

Hot Ways To Find Cheap Last Minute Vacations

Cheap last minute vacations: myth or fact? I say that this is absolutely a fact! You can find cheap last minute trips, and it's easy. Finding a good last minute vacation is like finding any other vacation package, but it takes a little time, diligence, and effort. Now, there are generally only four important parts of the last minute travel that you need to make sure you keep in mind.(These are not the things to keep in mind, however, they are very important.) But, the reason I repeat them is because to find the right traveling package for you or your family, you've got to want it bad enough. For example, if I bout the first package I saw when looking for a vacation, half of my retreats would be upsetting - financially, and relaxation-wise (because of the financial aspect of it).

So, the reason I always stress the financial part of your holiday is because a lot of burdens that most people feel when they go on trips and such is financial. They worry so much about money that they can't enjoy a beach, honeymoon, cruise, or what-have-you.

So make sure if you're looking for last minute vacations, look for CHEAP last minute vacations. You can do it by keeping in mind these other four things (the real four things that I wanted to share with you in the first place:

1. As I've said before, saving money is a priority. However, it is not all that matters. Keep an open mind and use suggestions on hotels, car rentals, airfare, destination travel, food, maximize discounts, comparison-shop, special offers, insider-tips (like found at http://fun-vacation-ideas.blogspot.com) and more to put more in your travel budget (the best part).

2. Avoid unnecessary cost and costly mistakes: make sure you deal with impulse buying, un-reputable travel service providers, traveling without insurance, always read the fine print, buyer beware and other insights that will help you hold onto your travel dollar or spend it appropriately on what you want, is wise and advisable.

3. Confirming details and verifying all costs, special restrictions, change fees, cancellation, medical and travel insurance etc. are all important Read the fine-print so to speak. Ask as many clarifying questions you need to have full confidence and queries or concerns addressed and dealt with to your satisfaction.

Be a wise, empowered and informed consumer, making wise choices and decisions on all last-minute travel endeavors. Make all the tips I share with you your travel companion and checklist to evaluate good, cheap last minute vacations and getaway deals. These tips and "words of wisdom" (if you want to call them that) and advice is meant to assist and enable many last-minute travelers, "brave 11th hour explorers" and bag-toting travelers everywhere, to becoming travel-bargain smart.

Make the most of what the market has to offer. (Even when traveling on a limited or shoestring budget and for short-term travel!) Cheap last minute vacations are everywhere. All you have to do is look for them.

Exploring Curacao's Historic Capital

As one of the most exciting cities in the Caribbean, Willemstad - Curacao's charming colonial capital - allows visitors to experience everything from historic architecture and museums to world-class dining and shopping. Willemstad is divided by a central canal into two districts, Punda and Otrabanda. Generally speaking, Punda is of greater interest to travelers as the most interesting historic sites and shopping areas rest on this side of the capital. For instance, if you want to see the pastel-colored colonial homes that Curacao is famous for, the Punda section is certainly the best place to spend your time. On the other hand, Otrabanda - meaning "other side" - is known as the contemporary half of the city and home to some exciting new developments. Regardless of where you spend your time in Willemstad, you will find plenty of sites and activities capable of exciting any traveler.
One of the best ways to explore Curacao's capital is by trolley. Each day these open-sided cars embark on a 75-minute tour of the city, passing by all of the most fascinating historical sites. Groups meet at Fort Amsterdam within sight of the Queen Emma Pontoon Bridge, one of the island's most significant technological advancements. After touring the Willemstad by trolley car, tourists can walk across this pedestrian bridge that connects the Punda and Otrabanda sections of the city. As the walkway rests atop the city's busiest canal, the bridge was equipped with a diesel engine and designed to swing open several times a day, allowing cruise ships and commercial fleets to enter the bustling harbor.

As Willemstad is a city rooted in rich colonial history and cultural traditions, local museums offer some of the island's most captivating sites. One of the most interesting collections can be found at the Museum Kura Hulanda, one of the largest museums in the Caribbean. Showcasing the life's work of Dr. Jacob Gelt Dekker, the restored colonial warehouses of Kura Hulanda are full of African artifacts and oddities. As African culture has played an important role in the postcolonial development of the Caribbean, several exhibits are devoted to this historical relationship. The most impressive example of this history is a full-scale reproduction of a colonial slave ship, modeled directly after a vessel that sailed from Ivory Coast to the Caribbean and the Americas. Located in Otrabanda, this fascinating museum is open everyday from 10 am to 5 pm and offers a unique, informative experience for the whole family.

Another good site to learn about the history of Curacao and the Caribbean is the Maritime Museum. Located in the picturesque neighborhood of Scharloo, the Maritime Museum details the history of the island from the arrival of the first inhabitants around 600 B.C. to the present. With the assistance of 40 permanent exhibits, visitors are able to chronologically trace the economic and cultural development of Curacao. Alongside the antiques, artifacts and historical maps, guests can also view a number of video presentations featuring oral histories offered by some of the island's most colorful personalities.

Near the Queen Emma Pontoon Bridge, you can find the charming Curacao Museum. Housed in a 19th century military hospital that was painstakingly restored in the mid-20th century, this small museum is now home to historic paintings, sculptures and furniture crafted over several hundred years by local and Dutch artisans. The outdoor pavilion is also a popular destination as many performances featuring local and traveling musicians take place throughout the year.

This bustling neighborhood near Fort Amsterdam and the pontoon bridge also marks the entrance to the city's best shopping district. As you walk through the Punda district and approach the harbor, you will uncover one of the most exciting stretches of shopping at the Waterfront Aches. This special ¼-mile strip is hard to miss as it is marked by historic 30 foot-tall stone arches and cobblestone walkways. Beneath the arches, you will find numerous specialty boutiques and restaurants, with options for every taste and budget. This waterfront district also offers great evening activities, as many businesses remain open late and the narrow streets are elegantly illuminated each night.

Near the central waterfront shopping area, you can also visit one of Curacao's great shopping traditions. Each day, small boats line the city's central canal and sell their products directly from their vessels at the Floating Market. As many of the boats arrive from Venezuela, Columbia and other Caribbean islands, the vendors not only offer the freshest produce and seafood imaginable, but also sell art, handicrafts and other unique products from throughout the region. The Floating Market typically opens at 6 am each day and new boats arrive throughout the afternoon, guaranteeing shoppers a distinctive experience whenever they visit.

When you visit Curacao, make sure to spend some time in the island's captivating colonial capital. Regardless of what areas in Willemstad you visit, your family will be treated to sites and activities that are historic, cosmopolitan and always exciting.

The Door To Andalucia

In the northernmost part of Andalusia, between Jaen and Ciudad Real, where Andalusia begins, we find a Natural Park, which is unequalled amongst the natural parks of Andalusia.

Its history is ingraved in its landscape, and is well illustrated in books and stories, in common expressions, and also physically in the many archeological sites, paintings and sculptures found here. These, and the richness of nature in its rugged and hard terrains makes it a deserving subject for conservation. This natural and historical wealth is a heritage for the future. The Natural Park, with an area of 6.000 hectares, situated in the Sierra Morena, is one of the most spectacularly beautiful landscapes that exist in Andalusia. For the hiker or tourist entering the park after the smooth plains of the central peninsual, the sudden dramatic panorama of the mountains and narrow passes is breathtaking. On the other hand, the hiker leaving the park finds that in the space of only a few kilometers these forceful montains are now behind him, and that suddenly a gentle, easy Castilian landscape lies ahead.
The area is is the pass between Andalusia and the rest of the peninsula. In few places is your entry and departure so well defined. A place of history, a place full of rocky cliffs and crags, a frontier, and more, the list could go on forever with the ideals this place cojures up in the imagination. However, it is necessary to travel here to appreciate the range of images that can be seen in the changing vista from the highway.

In this area, the town of Santa Elena can be found, a place which the visitor really should visit. Although this is inside a natural park of great ecological value, it has also been for centuries an axis of meeting points between Andalusia and Castilla-La Mancha. A strong sense of its special omportance is expressed in the history of this place.

The national park was formed by a large fracture in the surface of the earth where the slow erosion of the river has formed the great narrow passes through the slate of the Sierra and has broken up the uniformity of the Sierras, through which, in its course, leasds the Valley of the Guadalquivir.

Their position in the northern border of Andalucia, gives these mountains considerable rainfall. The combination of the natural form of the rocks and the rainswater endows this land with its vitality and vigor. With heights of more than 1.000 metres and because of he geological break between the Meseta and the valley of the Guadalquivir, a natural bioversity exists.

Any tourist will be more than rewarded by a visit there and will be able to observe in these forests the blend of holm oak, cork, gall oak, and pine, to mention only a few species among the natural wealth of this mountain range. Below the trees, is an undergrowth of mediterranean origin, with plants such as madrona bushes, mastic bushes, and myrtle. The wildlife living here include the wolf, the lynx, the deer, the wild boar and the marten, to name just a few. They have evolved here in perfect equilibrium in a rich diversity of species in spite of the proximity of human civilization. The skies, too, are worth more than a mere glance, as here you can observe such birds as the lion vulture, and the beautiful imperial eagle.

Access to the park is principally via the Motorway of Andalusia which leads te Santa Elena, from where your route can be decided. You can travel through some of the narrow passes of the River or by going on foot across the Arroyo del Rey (The King's Stream) or, perhaps, taking the road to the Aldea de Miranda del Rey (Village of Miranda del Rey).

Inside the park and just after crossing the pass in the north, is the zone of the Correderas. From here, the road going in the direction of Aldeaquemada leads to the interior of the sierras. On entering this area of natural beauty one should perhaps be prepared to pause and absorb at leisure the geological formations that nature has created. Deep ravines, stark, vertical faces and diverse eroded forms shape the landscape.

Speaking of areas of natural beauty, we must not forget that there are also those who consider this area to be a real hunter's paradise as well. For a long time this has been a major hunting ground where hunting practices have had an almost ritual fulfillment, Santa Elena and La Carolina being central to the practice.

Few natural places of this size can offer the tourist so much. Wildlife, hunting, spectacular views, as well as its own special historical features. Near Santa Elena is one of the jewels of Iberian archeology, the Collado de los Jardines (Collado of the Gardens). In the middle of the Sierras is one of the most interesting Iberian sancturies known, and nearby, an archeological site, The Cave of the Dolis with its valuable cave paintings.

Another place of interest to visit, though not within the park's borders, is the Paraje Natural (Natural Place) known for la Cascada de la Cimbarra (The Waterfall of the Cimbarra). It can be reached via the Motorway of Andalusia via Aldeaquemada or from Santa Elena which also leads to Aldeaquemada.

In mid sierra, due to the erosion of the strong hard slate, the River Guadalquivir appears to be completely enclosed, creating mighty cliffs, from where various waterfalls originate, the most spectacular being La Cimbarra. The combination of natural factors here make it a place to mark on the map as a must. The delicious meat of the mountain is also a rare delicacy due te the difficulty of the terrain. Meat, such as small game, with fried breadcrumbs, sausages, and delicate wild mushrooms, are authentic dishes which tempt the palate with their delicious flavours and aromas.

This area has become, over the centuries, through the richness of its wildlife and natural beauty, a unique place on the map of Andalusia and the Iberian peninsula as a whole.

Day Tripping To Puerto Morelos

Located just a short drive from Cancun's Hotel Zone, the rustic town of Puerto Morelos has been delighting day tripping tourists for a number of years. Known for its laidback, bohemian atmosphere, Puerto Morelos has long been home to a diverse population - from traditional fisherman to foreign artists and thrill seekers. Similar to Old Town Cancun, the historic section of the resort city located inland from the Hotel Zone, Puerto Morelos offers visitors an opportunity to experience authentic Mexican culture in a picturesque and inviting setting.
Unlike the multifaceted resort city of Cancun that allows visitors to relax while enjoying world-class accommodations and exciting activities, Puerto Morelos is known throughout Mexico as a quiet and simple retreat. What Puerto Morelos lacks in nightlife - the town has long been called 'Muerto Morelos' because of its lack of bars and nightclubs - it more than makes up for in relaxed dining and entertainment options. Locals have been known to spend several hours each night in the town's cafes and host spirited get-togethers in public parks and plazas. Furthermore, as most of the cafes and other businesses in Puerto Morelos rest right at the water's edge, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the scenery of the Caribbean Sea.

One of the most popular activities in Puerto Morelos is scuba diving, as an immaculately preserved section of the Great Mayan Reef rests just a short boat ride from shore. As the second largest barrier reef in the world, the Great Mayan Reef allows adventurous travelers to experience vibrant underwater life both in Puerto Morelos and throughout the Mayan Riviera. Much like the conditions on the beaches of Cancun, the waters offshore from Puerto Morelos are perfect for swimming, diving and snorkeling throughout the year. Day trippers may also want to the explore the Dr. Alfredo Barrera Marin Botanical Garden - a gorgeous facility full of local flora - and the Crococun - a local zoo specializing in the unique species that can be found in the diverse environments surrounding Puerto Morelos.

Though shopping in Puerto Morelos can't compare to Cancun, there is still much to see in this small town. If you make a day trip to Puerto Morelos on a weekend, try to check out the open-air market. As the town is known to be home to a number of artists, the weekend market in Puerto Morelos is one of the best places to buy unique arts and crafts directly from the artisans. The stores and galleries in Puerto Morelos are also good places to find local products and artwork.

While there are certainly plenty of ways to spend a relaxing day in Puerto Morelos, the town has become a great daytrip destination because of its easy accessibility. Every day, buses make round trip voyages from Cancun's Hotel Zone to Puerto Morelos and seats never cost more than a few dollars. It is also possible to find taxis that will take you directly to Puerto Morelos and fees are typically modest for the 20-30 ride. However, if you really want to explore the Caribbean coast and the beautiful scenery south of Cancun, rent a car in Cancun and make the leisurely drive to Puerto Morelos. If you need help finding the right bus or renting a car in Cancun, contact your concierge or the help desk at your resort to make the proper arrangements.

Though Puerto Morelos lacks the luxurious surroundings and myriad activities of Cancun, the relaxed lifestyle of this charming town provides an interesting counterpoint to the luxurious resorts and action-packed beaches of the Hotel Zone. Furthermore, as Puerto Morelos is just a short ride away for day trippers, it is easy to enjoy an afternoon in this peaceful Caribbean town.

Hiking And Bird Watching On Grand Cayman

While most visitors to Grand Cayman spend much of their time enjoying the underwater sights of the Caribbean or relaxing on the beach, there are plenty of exciting activities on land for the active or adventurous traveler. Grand Cayman and its sister islands - Cayman Brac and Little Cayman - have long been committed to preserving their diverse environments and natural Caribbean beauty. One of the best ways to experience the ecological results of Grand Cayman's environmental programs is hiking through the island's interior to observe the vibrant wildlife flying overhead. In addition to being both the permanent home to numerous species and the preferred breeding ground for many more, the Cayman Islands also boast a number of protected bird sanctuaries. When you visit Grand Cayman, try to spend some time watching the sky and enjoy one of the island's simplest, but most rewarding pleasures.
One of the most exciting hikes in the Caribbean is Grand Cayman's Mastic Trail, a two-mile path through one of the region's last remaining dry subtropical forests. Besides offering tourists a glimpse at several plant and animal species unique to the Cayman Islands, this hike through the middle of Grand Cayman is also one of the island's most relaxing activities. Elsewhere on the island, visitors can find paths that wind through palm trees and mangroves or hike along the coastline and enjoy the endless Caribbean scenery. When coupling hiking with a little bird watching, you can enjoy one of Grand Cayman's favorite pastimes.

The trails of Grand Cayman can be enjoyed throughout the year for casual outdoor fun or as part of locally-guided nature and bird watching tours. During bird watching outings, you will have a chance to enjoy lush natural surroundings and ideal conditions while learning about some of the most fascinating winged creatures on the planet.

During the peak bird watching season, it is possible to see over 200 different species - some of them permanent residents and others just passing through the island.

If you choose hike through the forests of Grand Cayman's interior - including the popular Mastic Trail - you will probably have a chance to spot some of the following island landbird species:

* Bananaquit * Caribbean Elaenia * Loggerhead Kingbird * Red-Legged Thrush * Thick-Billed Vireo * Vitelline Warbler * Zenaida Dove

Though the summer months mark the tourism off-season for Grand Cayman, several winged visitors make their way to the island during this time each year. Among the several species that flock to the Cayman Islands as part of annual breeding rituals, here are just a few of the most interesting guests:

* Antillean Nighthawk * Black-Whiskered Vireo * Gray Kingbird * White-Tailed Tropicbird

Additionally, more than 70 different species of migrating wetland birds have been spotted in the Cayman Islands - including everything from ducks and egrets to flamingos and spoonbills. However, researchers and birdwatchers alike pay a little extra attention to the wetland birds that breed on Grand Cayman and her sister islands. Some of the wetland species that fall into this special category include:

* Black-Necked Stilt * Green Heron * Pied-billed Grebe * Tri-colored Heron * West Indian Whistling Duck * Willet * Yellow-Crowned Night-Heron

For years, birdwatchers have also flocked to Grand Cayman and its bird sanctuaries for a glimpse of protected species in a natural habitat. The small island of Grand Cayman has seven distinct bird sanctuaries - including such popular sites as the QE II Botanic Park and the Majestic Reserve - each supporting unique winged species and an incredible variety of plant and animal life. If you make a daytrip to one of the sister islands, you will have several opportunities to observe some truly remarkable species in their protected environments. For instance, the endangered Brac Parrot can be found on Cayman Brac's extraordinary 180-acre parrot reserve, while Little Cayman's Booby Pond is home to the largest colony of Red-Footed Boobies in the Western Hemisphere.

Though Grand Cayman is known for its gorgeous beaches and incredible diving opportunities, there is much more to see than meets the eye. By setting out on foot through Grand Cayman's interior or visiting one of the island's bird sanctuaries, you will be able to experience an exciting, but too often overlooked side of this special Caribbean destination.

Antarctic Trips - Travel Insurance Is Vital!

In November 2007 the MS Explorer, carrying over 150 tourists and crew hit an iceberg in the Antarctic and sank. Miraculously, no souls were lost or turned into human lollipops, but it was a terrifying ordeal and a lucky escape for those onboard. Perhaps it was a timely and sobering warning that this type of tourism should never be marketed like a Disney attraction. Let's hope it also served as a warning to those who think travel insurance is an unnecessary expense!
Trips to the Antarctic have become very popular in recent years with tourists heading south in their thousands. Have our fears about global warming and climate change caused this massive migration to the Poles to see the magnificent glaciers and landscapes before they disappear? Al Gore has to be commended for his efforts, but is he to blame? Or should we blame all the cute penguin films, like Happy Feet?

At one time it was a place only visited by explorers and scientists and not looked upon as a tourist destination, but times are changing. Conservation groups are concerned about the impact of so much tourism on the environment and calling for limits on the number of visitors.

Most trips to Antarctica are made on ships departing from locations in South America. The routes are designed to take in areas where the largest amount of wildlife can be viewed. There are faster ways to see Antarctica though. For an aerial view you could take a tourist flight departing from Australia or New Zealand. It's a round trip of about eight hours. Whichever way you do it you'll be leaving a carbon footprint with your happy feet and stinking up the pristine air! This new type of adventure tourism seems here to stay. Like a penguin slithering down an icy slope to the sea - it can't be stopped.

With the ice sheets melting at a frightening rate, sea levels look set to continue rising. Despite this, Antarctica holds the record for the world's lowest recorded temperature at -129°F (-89°C) during 1983. You wouldn't even be able to say 'Brrr'. It's hard to imagine. I experienced -28°F in Colorado and saw a cat frozen as stiff as a board. When you stood it up it looked alive with tail held aloft in a friendly but icy greeting. My friends stood it next to their mail box to greet visitors (sentimental they are not, those leathery ranchers). I've heard that freezing is the most painless way to die but I'd prefer not to test that theory personally - and it's too late to ask kitty.

In case you're unsure, Antarctica is located in the southern hemisphere, around the South Pole. The Arctic is north. (You'd be surprised how many people don't know). All but about two-percent of Antarctica is covered with ice. Many people mistakenly believe there are polar bears in Antarctica, but they are only found north in the Arctic regions.

Antarctica has dormant volcanoes and an active one at Mt. Erebus on Ross Island. The highest peak is Vinson Massif at over 16,000 feet (approx. 4,890m). We are familiar with the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) but in Antarctica the phenomenon is known as the Southern Lights, or Aurora Australis. Antarctica has no government and belongs to no country, although various claims have been made on parts of it. It still belongs to the penguins and I vote they continue to rule! At least when a penguin makes a fool of itself it's cute and funny - in contrast to most politicians.

Many brave explorers risked their lives in the hostile environment, icicles hanging from their grizzly beards. They had solid, masculine 'don't mess with me' names like Sir Ernest Shackleton, Robert Falcon Scott and Roald Amundsen.

Nothing much can survive in such an environment in the way of flora and fauna, other than penguins, fur seals, whales, hardy varieties of algae and lichen and some ugly-looking bugs. There are several species of birds, including Skuas, Petrels and Antarctic Terns, but only a few are passionate enough to breed in those icy temperatures.

Not surprisingly, there are no humans living permanently in the Antarctic, although since the 1700s sealers and whalers have spent time in the area. The research stations run by various governments and agencies are staffed during the summer months, and many year-round. A wide variety of scientific experiments are carried out but the most talked about in recent decades has been the hole in the ozone layer - which is believed to have been caused by us messy humans.

The hole is also being monitored by NASA satellites, or are they really looking for the alleged missing Apollo 11 original Moon walk tapes? Many meteorites and craters have been discovered so who knows what might be uncovered down there. Perhaps they'll find Amelia Earhart or the missing Child Benefit CDs which our government carelessly lost. Rumour has it the reason the government wants us to carry identity cards is as a back-up system for when they lose our personal data. At least we'll know who we are, even if they don't.

It's not surprising that we want to see Antarctica ourselves but perhaps we should be content with staying in the warm and watching documentaries or films like March of the Penguins. In the animated film Happy Feet, the penguin 'Mumble' was unable to sing to attract his true love because he had an awful voice and so resorted to tap dancing to woo her. I didn't see this particular film, but presume he got his girl in the end - fish breath and all. Whatever they have to do to survive, perhaps we should think more about their welfare and leave them alone. If the ice shelves keep collapsing there'll be nothing left for them to tap dance their happy feet on.

Travel Adventures

In today's world, it is not uncommon for the average Joe to put in over 60 hours in a week at work. Just a few years ago, Norwegian had ships such as The Norway that were all about tradition and formality. The Norway was a dying breed and had its farewell season in 2001, although it still cruised for a few years after that. Now Norwegian is trying to capture a broader passenger base.

Traditional aspects still remain.

One passenger traveled on the Norwegian Dawn, one of Norwegian’s newer ships. There was a focus on art all through the ship. Rather than using contemporary artists, the Norwegian Dawn’s art staff opted for work of master artists. From Van Gogh to Andy Warhol, this is not the kind of art you usually see on a cruise ship. However, it does go along with emphasizing the luxurious feeling of days gone by.
The woodwork and metals are made with the highest quality workmanship and materials. It gives you the feeling that you are in a well-kept mansion or grand hotel lobby. Nowhere in the public areas will you find less than top quality visual effects that signify a privileged lifestyle.

Freestyle Cruising

Cruise lines used to schedule nearly every minute of every day, including where and when to eat. Norwegian wanted to set itself apart by offering a way for passengers to have more choices in how they spent their time. This was a wise move for them because Americans are very inclined to go where they have the most freedom. It is a part of our national spirit.

One of the biggest changes in the way things are done is in the dining arrangements. No longer do you have to dine in the seat, at the table, with the people, at the hour you are assigned. There are many choices of where to eat.

All the different restaurants have different choices of what kinds of foods you like to eat and how formal you like to get. They are open for long periods of time, and with all these variables, you should be able to find a seat in one of them with no problem.

On older ships, and many ships of other lines, people had to get off the ship only when the cruise personnel allowed them to. With Freestyle cruising, you can still get off the ship later if you miss the time when other passengers debark. It keeps you from missing out on seeing the ports of call just because you are a little late.

Norwegian Cruise Line Reviews are filled with information about the Freestyle cruising concept, along with other aspects of the voyages. If you can take some time to find out more about this new type of cruise vacation, you may learn that it is just what you want.

Durable And Rugged Luggage

Every businessman will need several pieces of durable and rugged luggage to carry clothes in while traveling. He might choose to take other things that will need protection from the elements too. The luggage that is chosen for a business trip to a rainy climate might also feature gorgeous interiors equipped with durable linings. A traveler's luggage will withstand many bumps and jolts as it progresses along the conveyor systems in use at many regional airports.

Some of the features that traveler's need in luggage will be what is considered durable. The retractable handles on each piece of luggage will be brought up and down many times during a day. These mechanisms must operate on command in most cases because a traveler does not have time to waste when it comes time to deplane or board a tram on the way to the next airport terminal station. Travelers expect bumps and dents to occur in the luggage they use for business but they also need to be able to rely on it getting there belongings home in one piece.

People can often see how durable a piece of luggage will be by the amount of machine stitching that goes around the outside edge of the luggage being carried. The durability of this strip will be tested when a traveler rounds certain corners, and at the end of the day the traveler will know if the durability test proved that the luggage was truly high quality because the strip withstood the abuse it took quite well. Some luggage items that were used in the past had strips that frayed and looked terrible after only two or three days.

Many quality luggage items will feature steel frames on the inside of all luggage that were purchased in a set. These steel frames kept the sides of the luggage from sagging and gave the outward appearance of being durable and strong. The marble texture of the luggage materials gave the appearance that the surface was hard as a turtle shell. The fashion designers had definitely worked their magic with this brand because the luggage was cleverly crafted to be both durable and beautiful to look at.

There are certain occasions where a traveler might need to stack luggage in storage compartments while riding on a train. The durability of the luggage will certainly be tested while traveling this method and some travelers are not as confident as others and do not trust their luggage selections to hold up. They will keep track of which luggage items fare better than others through the various modes of transportation they use on a trip. At the end of the road, there mind might be made up on which new style of luggage they want to own when they return home.

A luggage set that meets all expectations that a traveler has while traveling will normally be the topic of conversation at business meetings in the future. Travelers will make it a point to tell all business associates how helpful a piece of luggage was in impressing clients during the last meeting. Then he is sure to go into greater detail about which durable features stood out best among all the features that the luggage set possessed. The last topic that will be discussed is which luggage set cost more or less and provided more or less for the money that spent.

A Caribbean Vacation Special On Mayreau In The Grenadines

If you are looking for a Caribbean Vacation Special in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, then perhaps you need to do some investigation about the private island of Mayreau. It is a quiet destination found just west of the Tobago Cays. There is no airport on Mayreau so visitors arrive by small cruise ships that dock at Saline Bay on the south west corner of the island.

Mayreau is the smallest inhabited island in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, being only one and a half square miles in area with a permanent population of about three hundred people who all live in a village on the south west of the island.

The real charm of Mayreau, is the fact that this island of all islands in the Grenadines isn't rich from tourism, so what you are going to see is a side of the Caribbean untouched relatively speaking by the 21st century. If that is important to you, then you must visit.

What you will find is a few dozen simple houses, a few restaurants owned by the locals, all beautifully and colourfully decorated, and a guesthouse. There are also rum shops and pool tables.

You'll need to hike up the steep hill to the village from Saline Bay or the nice bush path from Saltwhistle Bay, but the reward is a stunning view over Saline Bay to Union Island, whilst you reward yourself with a nice cold drink.

Walk even further and you will find a beautiful little church.[most of the population are Catholics].

The views on all sides from the church are just stunning, across the reefs to the Tobago Cays, and south to Palm Island, Petit St. Vincent, Union Island, as well as Petit Martinique and Carriacou. Loking north you will see Canouan behind which is bequia, and on the horizon you can even see the hills of St. Vincent.

Technically Mayreau is a private island, as one would guess from its name, there is something very French about it, and if you think that, then you wouldn't be wrong. The British seemed to have forgotten all about it, which has resulted in a number of people who seem to hold ownership. In typical Caribbean style this seems to mean a total lack of coordination as to how it is to be developed.

This is a large part of the charm of Mayreau, but it also means it is quite untidy with no effort apparently made to control the rubbish. There is no supplied electricity, but the hum of generators adds to the feel of old Caribbean

Most visitors to Mayreau come by yacht and arrive at either Saline Bay which has a beautiful clean and very long beach, or Saltwhistle Bay a lovely anchorage at the north end of the island, and site of the Saltwhistle Bay Resort, one of the most exclusive hotels in the Grenadines.

Saltwhistle bay is absolutely beautiful, very much a tropical lagoon in appearance. Most visitors who aren't either yachties or off small cruise liners, only on Mayreau for the day, stay at the Saltwhistle Bay Resort.

It is small, exclusive, and a world away from the sleepy hillside village.

You may well find it paradise because Mayreau has no roads or cars, and indeed seems at times far from civilization, and that is the main reason that some people will find it to be the place to go for the best Caribbean Vacation ever.

The Streets of Universal Studios Come Alive for Mardi Gras 2008

Let the good times roll at Mardi Gras 2008! Also during this time, Glasgow was creating housing schemes riddled with new age tower blocks which in turn led to the loss of community spirit and laid the foundations for localized crime and deprivation.

The 70's and 80's were problematic decades for Glasgow as heavy industry was in decline leading to widespread unemployment and financial hardship. Since the mid 80's however, Glasgow has had a major economic boost, financial institutions moved into Glasgow city center to create a thriving business hotspot.

Since this time, Glasgow has gone from strength to strength in relation to its image and outlook. Glasgow has been very busy regenerating its inner city buildings and council housing and residents were invited to become owners of private residential property. The introduction of the Glasgow Garden Festival in 1988 on the banks of the River Clyde in Govan was a major success and this was closely followed by Glasgow being awarded the coveted title of European City of Culture in 1990.

This catapulted Glasgow into the international spotlight and after many achievements and recognition of hard work, Glasgow was also named City of Architecture and Design in 1999 and European Capital of Sport in 2003. This has led Glasgow to become an investment hotspot and the once derelict shipbuilding sites of the river clyde have been metamorphically transformed into luxurious riverside apartments and penthouses with commanding views over the city skyline.

This regeneration has led to widespread redevelopment of the city and surrounding suburban areas and this in turn has helped Glasgow to attract record numbers of tourists and thus creating a booming tourism industry. This overall success is reflected in the decision to appoint Glasgow as the host city for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, a major boost to the City in terms of investment and world interest and a proud moment in history that Glasgow fully deserves. So book your place now and visit Glasgow.

Shop Till You Drop in Bustling Bangkok

One of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, Bangkok is also the most fabulous shopping destination in Asia. Tahitian Islands, otherwise known as French Polynesia, is made up of about 118 islands and atolls spread across five archipelagos such as the Society Islands, Austral Islands, Gambier Islands, Marquesas Islands, and Tuamotu Islands.

Bestowed with the titles, 'the Queen of the Pacific' and 'the Island of Love,' Tahiti, in the Society Archipelago's Leeward group, is the largest and the main island in French Polynesia. Equally fabulous are such island destinations in French Polynesia as Bora Bora, Moorea, famed for its Tiki Village, Huahine, Raiatea, and Taha'a.

Each of the 118 islands in French Polynesia is noted for its unique landscape with beautiful flower-strewn valleys, gorgeous lagoons, deserted beaches, incredible coves and bays, and much more. In short, with a delightful array of natural wonders and man-made attractions, Tahiti and its sister islands are truly a haven for sightseers.

Just few among many of the attractions in the destination are the Harrison W Smith Botanical Garden, the Maraa Fern Grotto, Pearl Museum, and Bougainville Park. Visitors to French Polynesia could also engage in a number of adventure as well as leisurely activities such as swimming, diving, game fishing, wind-surfing, water skiing, outrigger canoeing, hiking, horseback riding, and 4X4 safari tours.

Apart from being a paradise for sightseeing as well as enjoying a number of water and land-based activities, Tahitian Islands are also much famed for its different types of festivals and events, which among many others, are the Chinese New Year, which falls every year between late January and mid February and whose focal point is traditional dance shows and martial arts display.

Moorea Marathon, falling every year in February; Tahiti International Golf Open, a four-day championship event that is held in every June; Heiva i Tahiti, which is perhaps the most significant among the festivals of French Polynesia; the Annual Flower Show, that is held in the Bougainville Park in Pepeete in September; and Stone Fishing Contest, a traditional event that take place in every year in October in Bora Bora.

Along with these festivals and events, also a much favored event in French Polynesia is Hawaiiki Nui Va'a, which is the most prestigious sporting event in French Polynesia, and one of the most extravagant open sea contests in the world. It is a three-day event, and is mostly held annually during late October or November.

It is estimated that more than 100 traditional canoes are taken to the water for the race from the magnificent island of Huahine to the romantic island of Bora Bora. Va'a is the Tahitian name given for outrigger canoes. During the race, overall kilometers of 78 miles or 130 kilometers must be covered and that too in three phases: from Huahine to Raiatea, Raiatea to Tahaa, and Tahaa to Bora Bora.

On the third day of the race when the competitor' reach the finishing point at Pointe Matira, Bora Bora, the spot would be packed with cheering crowds of viewers to welcome the winners. Al though a spectacular sporting event, Hawaiiki Nui demands a great deal of physical endurance coupled with traditional as well as modern techniques.

Important festivals and events of French Polynesia also include Marathon races, art festivals, performances related to the history of Tahitian Islands, beauty contests, surfing competitions, Bastille Day celebrations, and more. In short, Tahitian Islands present a feast of festivals and events, apart from a variety of attractions, to enthrall and entertain people touring the destination.

From the aforesaid discussion, it is evident that French Polynesia has reasons to draw tourists year-round. Hence, in order to cater to the needs of increasing number of tourists per year, almost all prominent destinations in French Polynesia like Tahiti, Bora Bora, and Moorea come with a number of accommodation options to choose from, including world class hotel and resort rooms, beautiful villas, and beachside apartments and cottages.

However, perhaps the most popular among the accommodation choice in Tahiti is overwater bungalows, which as the name implies, are built over the waters of the spectacular lagoon. They are attached with all facilities and amenities that a five-star hotel or resort renders. Let it be of any type, majority of the accommodation choices in Tahiti would be coupled with facilities like superb dining options, state of the fitness and spa facilities, and facilities to enjoy a number of activities.

Northampton Tourist Information

Northampton is a large market town and the county town of Northamptonshire. Just imagine if the trip is to such a destination that is a blend of modern and ancient and which offers an array of options to see and do. One such destination is Bangkok, situated close to the Gulf of Thailand, on the eastern banks of the Chao Phraya River, in the south-west region of Thailand.

Covering an area of about 1600 square kilometers, Bangkok is regarded as the gateway to the country, and is made up of about 50 Khets or districts. Founded as the capital of the country in 1782, Bangkok has now become a modern destination with towering skyline and well maintained establishments, al though retaining its ancient glories. No wonder why many tourist organizations as well as magazines have rated Bangkok among the top tourist destinations in the world.

Bangkok boasts of such a great number of attractions that it is quite difficult to list them all. Of which, perhaps the most noteworthy are exquisite palaces and ancient shrines in the region such as Grand Palace, which would be the first attraction that comes into the mind when one think about the city.

Suan Pakkad Palace, which served as the residence of Princess Chumphot; Wat Trai Mit, whose centerpiece is a golden image of Lord Buddha; Wat Mahathat, which is home to Mahachulalongkorn Buddhist University; Wat Pho, the oldest as well as largest of its kind in the city, which is much famed for its mural paintings and inscriptions; Wat Arun, with a 79-metre-high pagoda; and Wat Ratchabophit, whose architecture is a blend of traditional and western styles.

A visit to Bangkok would not to be complete without taking a tour to some of the fascinating museums in the city such as National Museum, with a vast selection of items collected from Neolithic and Ayutthaya periods; National Gallery Museum, exhibiting both traditional and contemporary works created by Thai artists; Museum of Imagery Technology, the first camera and photograph museum in Asia.

Science Museum, with an interesting aquarium, a planetarium, and several other sections for entertainment and education; Philatelic Museum, which is a must-see for stamp collectors; and Royal Barge National Museum, which has on display an array of royal barges that were used during royal occasions.

Interesting attractions in Bangkok also include Dusit Zoo, boasting of more than 200 mammals, 150 reptiles, and 1000 birds; Pasteur Institute or Snake Farm, with an amazing collection of poisonous snakes; Thai Cat Palace, featuring several breeds of cats such as Siamese, white pure Maeo Khao Mani, and diamond-eyed cats. Thus goes on the attractions in the city.

Bangkok has something for everyone. Travelodge in Spain is ripe for growth and hotels in Valencia, Malaga, Zaragoza and Bilbao are set to join the two pilot sites in Madrid and Barcelona.

The budget hotel chain desires leadership in the emerging Spanish affordable hotel market. Travelodge hopes to double in size by 2011; taking advantage of growth in the sector.

Chief executive Grant Hearn said he believes there is a very strong growth pattern outlook for the next 10-15 years. The pilot program demonstrated that the Travelodge model works in Spain and the time is right to capitalize on this demand. The company learned some sixty percent of their UK 1.5 million online customers are planning holidays to Spain in the next three years.

'Spain is the logical place for us to start our overseas expansion,' says Hearn. 'We are very excited about our plans for Spain, an important longer-term growth strategy.'

'Spanish travellers take 143 million trips a year and there were only 100 budget hotels in Spain,, says Mr. Hearn. According to Travelodge, the budget sector is the fastest growing part of the hotel business.

Travelodge said it was first drawn to Spain by the favorable conditions. It will target businesses first, followed by British tourists whom regularly visit Spain.

Only a quick flight away from the UK, Spain has consistently been a favorite destination for British tourists since the 1950's. Less than two hours by air, Spain offers luxuries that aren't readily available in the UK. Diverse cultures and customs have more to offer than miles of beautiful white sandy beaches and clear waters with year-round spring temperatures.

Spain is also rich in monumental heritage, great food and entertainment - all of which bring many British tourists to Spain year after year.

British tourists who want to enjoy more than the beautiful beaches of Spain take in day trips to nearby areas that include some of the world's best golf courses, swimming pools and lush forests.

Convenient locations of Travelodge in Spain, enhanced with comforts of home and modern amenities, complete the Spanish holiday experience to offer exciting possibilities to British travelers.

Low cost flights have made trips to Spain a real possibility for British tourists as well. This has been instrumental to the growing number of British citizens taking holidays in Spain. Since the 1960's air travel prices have steadily dropped and became available to a wider customer range. This makes Spain a very desirable vacation spot for many British tourists.

The budget hotel chain Travelodge was recently bought by Dubai International Capital in a 675m deal. The current management team, which includes chief executive Grant Hearn and Chairman Keith Hamill, will stay onboard after the sale has completed.
